Visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund

Nestled in a beautiful, reforested landscape near the Volcanoes National Park, the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund is the first purpose built home for this incredible organisation. For over 55 years, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund has worked to not only protect and study gorillas and their habitats but to empower the Rwandan people who live near the forest homes of the endangered gorillas. Guests are now welcome to visit the campus, exploring the state-of-the-art public exhibit and nature trails as well as to interact with the Fossey Fund staff who have dedicated their careers to saving gorillas.

Open 7 days a week from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the campus offers guests:

1. Self-Guided Tours
Experience the Conservation Gallery, including a 360 theater and replica of Dian Fossey’s original cabin, learning about the region’s biodiversity through a network of outdoor trails.

2. VIP Behind The Scenes Tour
Guided by a Fossey Fund senior staff member, enjoy a full tour of the campus including the Conservation Gallery and a behind-the-scenes visit to the scientific labs.

Pre-booking required. Tour duration is 2 hours, last booking window is 3 pm.

3. Silverback Sundowner
Enjoy a tour of the gallery followed by joining the gorilla experts, the Fossey Fund staff for an evening sundowner with spectacular views in the Virunga Overlook Lounge to share their experiences and answer questions.

Pre-booking required. Experience is 1 hour, daily from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Non alcoholic drinks, wine and light snacks are provided.
