• Experience the wilds of Southern Tanzania; the unspoiled, secluded wilderness of Ruaha, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Nyerere National Park.
• Explore Ruaha National Park, one of Africa’s premier birding destinations and home to the rarer, less-seen creatures including wild dog, sable, and Roan antelope.
• The 31,000 km2 Nyerere National Park is renowned for its rich wildlife, thanks to the provision of water by The Rufiji River and the dense sub-tropical Miombo woodland.

Arrive Dar es Salaam, fly to Ruaha – 3 nights.

In the heart of The Ruaha National Park, Kigelia Ruaha offers a traditional and elegant camp experience with exceptional game viewing.

A rustic bush retreat, the camps’ tented rooms all have outdoor showers and open out onto the Ruaha plains. Nestled in amongst by a grove of Kigelia trees (sausage trees), wildlife wonders freely between the tents.

At the centre of camp, the wooden and grass mess is elegantly furnished with light wooden chairs, throws, and leather pouffes. This is where simple yet excellent meals are served.

Arranged along the edge of the riverbank, each room leads out to an en suite that includes a private outdoor hot water bucket-shower as well as flushing chemical toilets.

Fly to Nyerere National Park – 3 nights.

Set on the banks of the Rufiji River, the stone and thatched cottages of Sand Rivers Selous are entirely open-fronted, bringing the outside in.

The main mess area’s wooden decks and polished floors appear contiguous with the soft sandy driftwood strewn river beach. Exposed beams, whitewashed walls, chunky tables, comfy couches and subtle decor provide an inside-out atmosphere. Excellent meals are served at elegant dining tables that can be set al fresco by the central pool.

The cooling breeze blows in through each of the rooms, some of which have their own private plunge pool. Large wooden beds sit at the centre of each of the rooms, offering panoramic views of the river below. A lounge, en suite bathroom and viewing deck, provide even more airy space to each of the eight suites.

Fly to Dar es Salaam – depart.

Sadly, the end of your safari; Other plans can be made to go to East Africa’s soft white sandy beaches and historic coastal towns or include another safari destination. Depart for home.
