Sarara is a community owned and run lodge set in the 850,000 acres Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy in the spectacular Mathews Mountain Range.
Accommodation is in six spacious tents, each with a private terrace, flush lavatories and open air showers with 24 hour hot and cold running water. The luxurious tents as well as the camp’s natural rock swimming pool are positioned to maximise the stunning views over the Mathews Mountains and over the animal waterhole, which is frequently visited by wildlife, especially elephant.
Sarara has a long conservation history in this part of Kenya and nowadays the numbers of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, gerenuk, impala and warthog are constantly increasing. As a result of their conservation practices, Sarara is also known as one of the best leopard viewing areas in Africa.
A wonderful mystical experience and event of a lifetime
Nothing quite so romantic as showering under the stars and moon. Good bar, fine food and excellent staff.
It is wonderful to find that places like this still exist and are being protected. Loads of new birds to add to our list.
