Located in a wonderful position on the beachfront in the village of Shela, Peponi is a small hotel on the island of Lamu. Run by the Korschen family, who opened the hotel in 1967, Peponi retains much of the character and charm that it had then.

Intimate and personal, it is the perfect place for a respite from modern life or a rest after a safari. The 28 simple but tasteful rooms have ocean views, overhead fans and flowers. The hotel’s innovative and delicious cuisine, served in a stunning setting as the dhows sail past, is among the best in East Africa. Peponi Hotel deserves its fabulous reputation.
