Visa to Kenya

If you require an entry visa for Kenya, this can either be obtained:

  • from Kenyan Diplomatic Missions of your country of residence
  • on arrival at the airport; including Nairobi International Airport (JKIA) and Mombasa International Airport
  • online at www.evisa.go.ke
  • at border posts with Uganda and Tanzania (including Namanga and Migori)

Visas are valid for a period not exceeding 3 months. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel date and must have a clean and full visa page for endorsement.

Please note that all eligible visitors to Kenya can either apply for the e-Visa prior to departure or make a manual visa application upon arrival at any port of entry. It is however highly recommended and encouraged that you apply for the e-Visa.

  • Please note Children aged 15 years and younger require an entry visa, however there is no cost
  • Transit visa US $ 20 per person
  • Ordinary or Single Journey entry visa US $ 50 per person (although this is a single entry visa, it can remain valid for re-entry from Tanzania)
  • Multiple entry visas US $ 100 per person
  • East Africa Community Tourist Visa (3 months multiple entry for Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda) US $100 per person

Visa to Tanzania

If you require an entry visa for Tanzania, this can either be obtained:

  • from Tanzanian Diplomatic Missions of your country of residence
  • on arrival at the airport; including Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Dar-es-Salaam International Airport and Zanzibar International Airport
  • at border posts with Kenya (including Namanga and Tarime)

Visas are valid for a period not exceeding 3 months. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel date and must have a clean and full visa page for endorsement.

VISA FEES – please have this amount in exact cash, in dollars or euros (as per current exchange rate), for ease of transaction

  • Ordinary or Single Journey entry visa US $ 50 per person (although this is a single entry visa, it can remain valid for re-entry from Kenya)
  • USA citizens only: Ordinary or Single Journey entry visa US $ 100 per person
  • Multiple entry visas US $ 100 per person
  • Please note the East Africa Community Tourist Visa is not applicable to Tanzania

All passengers travelling between the two parks using what is known as the Tarime – Migori connection are required to carry with them a printed copy of their visas, even if issued online.

Visa to Rwanda

If you require an entry visa for Rwanda, this can either be obtained:

Visas are valid for a period not exceeding 3 months. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel date and must have a clean and full visa page for endorsement.

In cases where there is no Diplomatic Mission/ Consulate, you must request for a visa acceptance letter online, which should be presented on arrival allowing you to obtain a visa upon payment of the visa fee.

Without prior application, nationals of the following countries will be issued with an entry visa valid for a period up to 30 days upon payment of the appropriate visa fee:
Australia
Germany
Israel
New Zealand
South Africa
Sweden
United Kingdom
United States of America

Visa to Uganda

If you require an entry visa for Uganda, this can either be obtained:

  • from Ugandan Diplomatic Missions of your country of residence
  • on arrival at the airport
  • online at www.visas.immigration.go.ug (as of 1st June 2016 – please see notes below)
  • at border posts with Rwanda

Visas are valid for a period not exceeding 3 months. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel date and must have a clean and full visa page for endorsement.

  • Ordinary or Single Journey entry visa US $ 100 per person
  • Multiple entry visa (valid for 6 to 12 months) US $ 100 per person
  • East Africa Community Tourist Visa (3 months multiple entry for Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda) US $100 per person

Please note that Uganda will launch e-Visa applications effective 1st of June 2016:

  1. Anyone arriving on 1st June 2016 onwards who requires a Visa must apply online. On completion and submission of the application intending travellers will receive a bar coded email notification.
  2. On arrival at any border post, airport or land borders, that email must be presented and the bar code will be scanned into the immigration system. A Visa sticker will then be printed, including a scanned photograph, which on payment of the appropriate visa fee, will be inserted into the passport.
  3. For any Visa extensions, the process is due to be completed online, however anyone in Kampala may apply in person at the Immigration Headquarters at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
  4. These above information applies to single entry Visas, East African Tourist Visa (also covering Kenya and Rwanda), multiple entry Visas and Business Visas.
