Ol Malo Lodge & Ol Malo House

Nestled into a rock escarpment on the northern edge of the Laikipia Plateau, Ol Malo Lodge is set on a private 5,000 acre game sanctuary on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River.

Built from olive wood and other local materials and set among the natural curves of the rocky hillside, Ol Malo is a striking lodge offering superb views over this untamed and beautiful landscape. It features comfortable sitting and dining rooms on shady terraces, open fireplaces, a stunning infinity pool and a barbeque area, ideal for al fresco dining under the African star sky. The four cottages feature double bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms, large window frames as well as private verandas.

Ol Malo House is a new building on the property comfortably accommodating up to 12 guests. It can be booked individually as well as on exclusive basis. The house has a large sitting and dining room with open fireplaces surrounded by three ensuite double bedrooms. Adjacent cottages create three further bedrooms.

Wildly romantic, ol Malo is a 5000 acre private ranch in one of the most spectacular areas of Laikipia, the Ewaso Nyiro flowing between high rock kopjes and rugged thorn bush. Hosted by the wonderfully informal Francombe family, this home-from-home experience is great for camel treks and romantic fly camps.

Msafiri Magazine

Ol Malo House is a flight of fantasy. With its individual rooms, quirky design, spiral staircase and central tower, it is a kind of African Hogwarts.

We were absolutely blown away by this place. The accommodation was incredible and I cannot recommend this place enough. The setting and accommodation is to die for and the service is the best I have known. 5 star. So as you can imagine we were very reluctant to leave here!!!

Ol Malo House

What a truly wonderful place you have here at Ol Malo. The house has been built in such an incredibly beautiful and original way – the children particularly loved the cave bedroom. Andrew and Chyulu – you have been fantastic hosts and have made us feel so welcome and we have truly felt like your home guests. Thank you also for being so brilliant with our little ones they have loved the horse riding, camel riding, bush walks, river swimming, sand castle building: your patience and kindness to them has been beyond the call of duty
