Covering a total of 50,000km2 of southern Tanzania, the Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest reserves in the world. The incredible wildlife diversity and expanse of this area earned it UNESCO World Heritage prestige in 1982 as species such as Black rhino, African wild dog, lion, hippo, Cape buffalo and Masai giraffe can be found in higher numbers within the reserve than any other African game reserve or national park.
No permanent structures of human habitation is permitted within the park – a selection of safari camps located along the Rufiji river in Northern Selous provide an exclusive safari experience in this vast expanse of untouched wilderness.
The largest national park in Tanzania and East Africa, Ruaha National Park covers 20,226km2 intersected in the South-East by the Great Ruaha River. A bird watching paradise, Ruaha is home to over 571 species of bird – both resident and migratory.
