Our Conservation Story

Dear partner in conservation,

A letter to share with you our experiences in Conservation Tourism, and our ethos for sustainability:

Ever since we started this adventure over 25 years ago, we have sought ways to both support eco-systems and to ensure that you and I, as visitors to the Parks and Conservancies, make minimal impact on the environment. We started Cheli & Peacock Safaris because we loved the wilderness and enjoyed sharing it with others.

Since 1985 Cheli & Peacock Safaris has been developing environmentally-friendly safaris in Kenya, and more recently, in Tanzania, with a focus on lesser-visited areas of significant biodiversity. With 70% of the wildlife roaming outside of protected areas, Cheli & Peacock Safaris chooses properties that work with local communities to support wildlife conservation by providing economic benefits through bed-night levies, leasing agreements and education initiatives.

As part of giving back to the community, Cheli & Peacock Safaris has also supported AMREF Flying Doctors for over 30 years, not only in the interests of our clients’ well being, but also to support the community healthcare that AMREF is a big part of; the Amref Health Africa Clinical Outreach Programme was established in 1957 to take essential medical and surgical services to remote district level Hospitals.

We aim to offer Safaris that will always follow our motto to “take only pictures, leave only footprints” and we have discovered over the years that our clients feel the same way as us – they too fall in love with the untouched wilderness, and appreciate the fact that their presence has helped preserve what they experience.

Very best wishes to you all –
